We always want to bring you additional perspectives in the newsletter, so I asked Trans Journalists Association Executive Director Tre’vell Anderson for their thoughts and approach as a hiring manager.
“I think what most people term as Gen Z’s lack of workplace readiness is as much a comment on most workplaces as it is on younger people,” they said. “As I build my team, I’m not interested in reproducing the same workplace culture I’ve spent my entire career challenging and resisting.”
So then, what can workplace culture look like?
“My Black trans imagination has always offered many other possibilities for how to think about ‘professionalism’ and authenticity in the workplace, and every generation can benefit from that because of the ways our collective humanity is centered,” Tre’vell said.
