Lead paint is a major threat to kids. Old Detroit homes are full of it, but the city keeps selling them

In Detroit, kids have higher rates of lead poisoning compared to the rest of the state and country. The primary way kids come in contact with lead is through paint in old homes. But demand for truly affordable places to live in Detroit is high. For people who are desperate for housing, the threat of lead exposure has to be balanced with the threat of other bad options, like homelessness.
