We’re thrilled to welcome powerhouse publisher PushBlack as the fourteenth media partner in the URL Media network.
Founded in 2015, PushBlack is a non-profit, multi-platform media organization for Black Americans that currently reaches 9 million people each month with daily content featuring Black history stories, criminal justice reporting, finance content and an evergreen voter registration effort, all with the goal of promoting and facilitating Black liberation.
Their audience engagement model includes an innovative Facebook messaging service, plus sizable audiences numbering in the hundreds of thousands apiece across TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.
PushBlack also produces two podcasts — “Black History Year” and “Building Black Dollars,” — a weekly “State of Criminal Justice” newsletter, and a YouTube channel featuring anchored commentary about Black history and current events.
It’s a rich opportunity to collaborate with a prolific and richly talented team, and we’re excited about the opportunities for content amplification and collaboration their joining our network represents.
“We’re excited to partner with URL Media and be a part of a growing organization that aligns with both our mission and values,” said Julian Walker, CEO of PushBlack. “It’s affirming to be included in and support its community of brands committed to creating media that uplifts marginalized voices and stories.”
We’re especially excited about the ways their Black history content can add context and historical dimension to the news content our partners are producing. Their cutting-edge platform strategy presents exciting opportunities to engage with audiences and communities in brand news ways.
“This is an exciting development for URL Media and all our partners,” says S. Mitra Kalita, CEO and co-founder of URL Media. “One of the things I’m proudest of is the diverse nature of our partners, not just in terms of content and identities but the platforms on which they publish. Basically, PushBlack does great internet and I’m thrilled to expand our reach and learn more from its incredibly successful audience-first strategy.”
