Rest of World is a nonprofit publication rewriting the map of global tech journalism, telling stories of innovation, adaptation and rising power beyond the Western bubble. In our first five years, our award-winning newsroom has reported from more than 100 countries, covering the long tail of tech everywhere: AI, e-commerce, Big Tech, autonomous cars, semiconductors, creator economics, crypto frauds, and beyond.

As the global order continues to shift amid transformational new technology, Rest of World is also evolving to meet the moment. We’re becoming more focused, more innovative and more essential to the globally curious professionals in Western markets, primarily North America, the UK and Europe.

To help lead Rest of World through this next chapter, we are seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Publisher to join the publication. This is a rare opportunity to take the reins of an internationally respected newsroom and help reshape it for impact, sustainability and engagement in this new era.

This includes developing and executing strategies to grow audience engagement, expand monetization, and build partnerships. You’ll work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and senior leadership to ensure the publication is editorially excellent, operationally sound, and widely read by the people who impact the world.

About Rest of World

Rest of World is an international non-profit newsroom that challenges expectations about whose experiences with technology matter. We connect dots across a rapidly evolving digital world, through on-the-ground reporting in places typically overlooked and underestimated.

Since launching in 2020, we’ve published stories from nearly 100 countries outside the West. Our work explores the spaces where tech, business, culture and human experience collide, through compelling storytelling and fresh, innovative design.

Our journalism ranges from deep authoritative reporting to highlighting surprising online cultural phenomenons. We’ve covered everything from gig workers, internet shutdowns, and supply chain abuses to livestreaming battles, disappeared influencers, and unexpected crypto contagion. Our reporting has won recognition in the U.S. and internationally, and our work has prompted companies and policymakers to take action.
